The original name of Los Angeles was “El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles de la Porciuncula.” This translates as “The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of the Small Portion.” The name was almost bigger than the population, which stood at just 44 people when the town was first settled.
